INTROSPECTIONS rassemble le travail de six artistes émergentes montréalaises qui explorent différentes approches aux notions de représentation de soi et d’auto-réflexion. Cette exposition cherche à recadrer à révéler l’authenticité de la représentation de soi à travers l’examen de thèmes importants – tels que l’identité, l’incarnation, le déplacement, la féminité et la déformation de cette identité – qui sont reflétés dans le travail des artistes et qui informent qui elles sont en tant que artistes.

En proposant une réflexion sur les différentes perceptions et approches des artistes émergentes vis-à-vis de sujets importants dans leur pratique artistique, INTROSPECTIONS reflète également leur position sur la scène artistique. L’exposition offre un lieu de représentation et d’agence qui cherche à présenter leur travail et à leur donner une voix dans un monde de l’art en concurrence et en mutation.

INTROSPECTIONS brings together the work of six emerging artists in Montreal who explore different approaches to the notions of “self-representation” and “self-reflection. It seeks to re-envision and reveal the authenticity of self-representation through the examination of important themes– such as  identity, embodiment, displacement, femininity, and mis-recognition – that are reflected in the artists’ work and that inform who they are as artists.

By proposing  a reflection on different perceptions and approaches that emerging women artists have to subjects important in their artistic practice, INTROSPECTIONS is also a reflection of their position in the artistic scene. The exhibition offers an outlet for agency and representation that seeks to showcase their work and give them a voice in an art world in constant competition and mutation.
